Top 10 art events this spring

Happening in or near Tacoma

1. Imogen Cunningham, a retrospective

She is a fine art photographer. Just take a look at the promotion video of the show. I’m already in love with her and I just heard about her. This event is at the Seattle Art Museum. But it’s listed first because the show closes so soon.

Closes: February 6th

2. Uncorked Canvas

This is a paint and sip event. I’ve been to Uncorked Canvas before and they are really great. I highly recommend them if you want to have some drinks and get a little messy with paint. The event I linked is for a version of the famous painting The Kiss; however, they have lots of different events on different days with different types of paintings.

Dates: ongoing

3. Tacoma Art Museum: Gather 27 years of Hilltop Artists

This looks like it’s going to be such a cool event. The TAM is featuring alumni from Hilltop Artists that still have their roots in Tacoma.

Dates: starts March 26th and goes through September 4th

4. Glass Museum

Two events stood out to me at the Glass Museum. One event you get to hear from different artists about their work (virtual). Another event you get to learn and create your own fused glass piece.

Date for discussion:2/10

Date for making fused glass: 2/12

5. Tacoma Public Library art gallery (virtual)

This is for you all that prefer a virtual event. Sip wine and look at art from the comfort of your home. The TPL is highlighting work made during the pandemic.

Dates: March 3rd- April 30th

6. Real Art Tacoma

This is a place to look for music or comedy shows happening in Tacoma. I’m not listing any one specific artist/event here. But this is a good resource for that sort of event.

Date: various

7. Tacoma Consignment: 253 Artist Series

This is my event happening this Spring! 253 Artist Series is a new gallery started inside Tacoma Consignment. Come sip wine and look at loads of cool stuff.

Dates: the show is up 2/4 but the event is March 11th

8. Spun

This isn’t strictly an event either. But it is a good time. It’s pottery! Take a class or just wing it. The people at Spun are my personal friends and they are wonderful.

Dates: ongoing

9. Tacoma Night Market

This is a big one. You’ll find all sorts of vendors from Tacoma converging at the Tacoma Night market. This is a really cool event.

Dates: ongoing, find them on the site

10. Roq La Rue

This is my favorite Seattle Gallery. The gallery is closed right now but will open this Saturday. So I’m not 100% sure what will be showing this spring but whatever it is, it’ll be good.

Dates: ongoing, check the site
