Amy Lewis' Great Expectations is a watercolor painting set in Bluebeard coffee house in Tacoma Washington. Great Expectations Watercolor on paper 19.5" x 26" 27x34" framed 2016 NFS A little bit about the painting Great Expectations was the first large scale painting of mine that I considered to be professional . It represents a milestone and holds a lot of sentimental value. It is a painting about the weight of expectations when you're young and particularly when you're fresh out of high school. Abundance by contemporary artist Amy Lewis is a glamorized look at ordinary life highlighting the things we take for granted. abundance Oil on wood panel 18x24" 2023 COLLECTED. SHOP PRINTS A little bit about the painting We are familiar with the image of a cup overflowing as a metaphor for blessings. And I hope we are aware of how many people in the world still don’t have easy access to clean water. Abundance is both that common metaphor and also a reminder of the literal gift of hot and cold water whenever we want it. In seasons where I have very little disposable income I find that again and again God provides exactly what I need and so much more. So many of the frustrations I deal with are self imposed from doubt. I fear xyz, and I doubt God’s provision. But I’ve always been wrong. I do walk through valleys. But I’ve never been alone and things have always turned out okay. Usually better than okay. Our time is so different than God’s time. But he knows the desires of our hearts and what is best for us. His timing is always perfect. His provision is always abundant. “For he draws up the drops of water; they distill his mist in rain, which the skies pour down and drop on mankind abundantly.” (Job 36:27-28) More Oil Paintings shop prints The Artist- Giclée Archival Print W.W. Amy Lewis' Don't Look Up is a watercolor painting reflecting on the covid-19 pandemic. Don't Look Up feaures a man in a velvet suit with his head in one hand and his phone in the other. don't look up Watercolor on paper, mounted on wood panel 24x30" 2022 AVAILABLE, COLLECT NOW A little bit about the painting Don't Look Up was born out of the pandemic. It reflects my feelings (and I think global feelings) surrounding discourse online and the constant stream of bad news that we endured during that period. The title was taken from the movie of the same title. The themes of the movie, Don't Look Up fit into the pandemic experience so well that's it's a little frightening. Coffee Date by contemporary artist Amy Lewis is a glamorized look at ordinary life highlighting the things we take for granted. Coffee Date Oil on wood panel 18x24" 2023 Available, inquire now A little bit about the painting I was inspired by greenwashing as a concept. I was interested in mixing cheap plastics and fast fashion against the greens and natural themes that companies use to promote their questionably sustainable products. I love a Starbucks treat and plastics are unavoidable in our world but it is a visually intriguing hypocrisy to explore. Coffee Date evokes feelings of summer, first dates and little special treat days. It's so beautiful when you're feeling unstoppable in a killer outfit with a coffee treat in hand. Amy Lewis' Breakfast in Bed is an oil painting celebrating the wonderful luxurious experience of eating eggos in bed. Breakfast in Bed Oil on cradled wood panel 48" Round, 1" deep 2024 Available, inquire now A little bit about the painting Life is filled with inconveniences, frustrations and disappointments. I am often jealous of others, tired, discontent+ But I’ve found little solace in gratitude. If I can revel in joy over my morning cup(s) of coffee, flowers I bought myself, or breakfast in bed… then I should. And I should let it fill me with hope and gratitude for the beauty and privilege it is to be myself in my circumstances, loved by a God who created me. I am first and foremost a created person made to love and glorify God. I don’t fully understand why he has made me to create and also made it soo difficult to do so. But I think it is partially to continually push me back to himself. By revealing my weakness to me, he shows me all the ways he sustains and loves me. I hope my work can bring him glory and I hope it brings you joy. It’s not just breakfast in bed, it’s the joy of being alive. More Oil Paintings shop prints The Artist- Giclée Archival Print W.W.
